If you’re a Personal Trainer in the UK, you’ll be well aware of the fact that you need to keep on top of your REPS Continuing Professional Development (or Collecting Points Development as I’ve heard it called) in order to keep accredited with REPS at the time of writing, a Level 3 Instructor needs 24 points in a 1 year period according to NRPT.
As far as Providers go, a great Training Provider is Discovery Learning, Good Prices and Good Courses, you can see more at http://www.discovery.uk.com
Anyway, before you map out your CPD training, ask yourself this question
“Will doing this course give me a Pay rise?”
When I Train a Group of Personal Trainers on Building a Profitable Personal Training Business or work one on one with a Personal Trainer to build their business, I actively encourage them to see the business and profit value in the CPD course they do. And you can find this in almost all of them.
For Example
Circuit Training – I can set up a Circuit Training Class
Indoor Stationary Cycling – I can work freelance in the local health club as a spinning instructor
Lower back pain specialist – I can set up a premium personal training service
I could go on but you get the idea. The rule is every time that you increase your knowledge in some way, in some way, increase your prices. You are a higher value as you learn more and apply more so look at your CPD Training as an investment and then look to make that investment pay in a major way. If you think about it, a Kettlebell course with Discovery Learning will set you back £125, if on the back of that you set up a Kettlebell class that grosses £1000 per month. Thats a pretty phenomenal return!
